Jun 24, 2010 An Evening In The Garden
When I came home Saturday evening I sat outside and watched the sky awhile.
I thought about the things I saw in the garden and jotted them down as they appeared.
Nothing poetic really, just a evening in the garden ~
And this is what I wrote.
==========
Dragonflies are doing their aerial courtship dance.
And ...
the moon appears in the daytime sky,
as an escaped breast, from it's trappings.
**
Gentle breezes caress the nape of my neck and
a softened glow of sunset low ~ casts shadows on the grass.
**
Orange-red lilies bust out of long green stems,
grinning so wide, their ruby lips, to kiss the evening sunbeams.
Daisies bob in the breeze teasingly.
**
Robins chortle. calling each other home, before the last feed of the night.
Little yellow Finch, "Squeegee" as they call.
So brave among their own ~ so timid when alone.
**
The hummingbird ~ clings to the clothesline ~ watching humankind.
Then flits away so curious, so cute,
examining colourful bright and shiny things along it's route.
One flies to the feeder, the other dares her ~ tempts her away, to play.
**
Three old fashioned Bi-Planes scuttle over the trees.
Their old engines, like egg beaters groppling overhead.
An air-show is in town.
**
One lone lawnmower hums to a lulling silence.
Oh sweet peace of night is falling.
Soon the fireflies will come ~ their little flying lanterns beckoning a mate.
Light an ember to a glow and they will signal back to you.
**
Light a penny candle and blow ~.
Create one more ember that will glow ~.
Deep within your sweet heart tonight.
